John & Michelle's Wedding Cake

So today is the wedding of some friends of mine, John & Michelle who wanted something very chocolatey indeed.

Their reception is at a restaurant located in the old stock exchange building in manchester which has beautiful old original features including a fabulous vaulted ceiling!

After meeting with John & Michelle at their cake consultation, we decided on individual chocolate cups filled with cake and buttercream and topped with fresh fruit and chocolate curls. They also wanted two tiers of cake at the top which were covered in milk chocolate cigarillos.

I was really pleased with the overall effect, the ribbon colour was chosen to match the colour of the bridesmaids dresses and I think it offsets the milk chocolate perfectly!

Congratulations John & Michelle, hope you have a wonderful day and a brilliant honeymoon x

NEW Wedding Cake Range

Well a few weeks ago I started to design my new range of wedding cakes (SO EXCITING!!) and this week I finally made a start in making them so I can take photos and show all you lovely people!!

Today I was hand piping pearls onto one tier of what is going to be a three-tiered pink and white wedding cake, it's not finished yet but here's a sneaky peak........

Queen Vic Cupcakes!!!

Well this time last week I met the lovely and amazingly talented Victoria Pendleton at her book signing at Waterstones at the Trafford Centre.

There were SO MANY people who turned up to see her so I only had a matter of seconds to give her a beautifully wrapped gift box of four cupcakes, decorated with glittery gold olympic rings to reflect her recent success!

Queen Victoria herself later tweeted about how delicious they were which was utterly amazing plus I now have a signed copy of her book which I can't wait to read!!

I love these professional photos!!

So earlier on in the summer I made a wedding cake for Sarah and Evan who wanted a lace effect on their cake to coordinate with the lace detail on Sarah's dress.

When we delivered the cake to the venue, the florist still had to adorn the top of the cake with some beautiful flowers to match Sarah's bouquet so we never quite got to see the final effect......until now!!!!

The room looked amazing and the cake really looked stunning with the gorgeous white peonies on top, I love it!!

Sarah & Evan were really happy with the cake, as were their guests who enjoyed eating it into the early hours!!

Fabulous Baby Shower Cupcakes!

A few weeks ago, Gemma a friend of mine asked me to make some cupcakes for a baby shower she was organising for her sister who is now due very soon!!

As no one knows if the little bundle is going to be a bouncing boy or a beautiful girl, we decided to incorporate both blue and pink tones with some gorgeous little edible cupcake toppers.

So I made really cute pink and blue rattles, building blocks spelling out the word BABY and really cute buttons to sit on top of scrummy vanilla and lemon buttercream swirls.

They looked so adorable and I was really pleased with them as were Gemma and her Mum-to-be-Sister!! x

40 years of marriage........

Last year I made a wedding cake for some friends of mine, Tricia & Nick and this summer they asked me to make another cake for Nick's parents 40th wedding anniversary.

As a 40 year anniversary is represented by Rubies, they chose to have a delicious two tier red-velvet cake with cream cheese icing. The top tier was in a beautiful heart shape to make it nice and romantic! The whole cake was then covered in white sugarpaste and decorated with edible ruby red roses and sugarpaste swags with a touch of red glitter to add a bit of sparkle!

Classic and beautiful! x

Scrum-mee!!

So it's been a while since I last posted any pics of cakes so I've got a few for your viewing pleasure!

First of all, I made this old-fashioned red-brown leather rugby ball cake for the 80th birthday party of a former professional rugby league player. Inside is a moist chocolate sponge with chocolate buttercream which was then carved into a rugby ball and covered in sugarpaste before being decorated.

I was really happy with how it turned out
and can't wait to do some more carved cakes as they really are a lot of fun! x
