"Wish You Were Here" Beach Cake!

I love this cake, it was ordered by a client who had planned a lovely holiday to celebrate his 50th birthday but wanted to send cake (along with Prosecco) into his work for his colleagues to enjoy on his birthday in his absence - what a lovely idea!!

Being that he was relaxing and sunning himself on a gorgeous beach, we decided on a "Wish You Were Here" theme for the cake with a handmade sugar model of himself (complete with underarm hair!) on his Sunderland red and white striped beach towel wearing shorts and sunnies!!

The finishing touches included a palm tree, cheeky crab, a beach made from brown sugar and flowing blue waves surrounding the cake.

I was really happy with how it turned out and think he was very generous indeed!!

We're officially a North West Wedding Award Finalist!!

Last week, my husband and I went to the lovely Crewe Hall Hotel for the County Brides North West Wedding Awards where we'd been nominated for Best Cake Category.

15 different cake makers had been nominated including Marie Antoinette Cakes so we were thrilled to attend the awards ceremony to see if we'd been shortlisted or even better still, won!!

Alas, we didn't win but were shortlisted as a finalist which means that we've been voted one of the top four wedding cake makers in the North West!! What's even better is that these awards are voted for by Brides and Grooms which means that our clients really love what we do!!

Thanks to everyone who voted and roll on next year's awards!! x
